MPH – Epidemiology Concentration
The Master of Public Health program develops practice-ready effective public health professionals equipped to address complex health challenges among a myriad of populations. The program delivers interdisciplinary training in designing, implementing, and evaluating public health services; equips individuals to identify and assess the social, economic, cultural, and environmental determinants of population health; and strengthens the expertise required to shape policies that promote healthy behaviors and support community well-being. Graduates from UNT Health contribute meaningfully across a wide range of organizations and agencies dedicated to promoting and protecting health in human populations.
Cohort Model: The MPH program moves participants through an integrated cohort experience that builds a strong, collaborative professional network.
The following degree plan presents the Epidemiology Concentration.
Students in the Epidemiology concentration will learn to examine demographic and social trends of disease and injury to identify their causes, risk factors, populations at risk. Using what is uncovered, epidemiology student develop skills to drive strategies to prevent future occurrences and protect community health.
Students in this concentration are admitted during one cycle per year. Admitted students begin each Fall as a cohort and progress through 48 semester credit hours of required coursework across five consecutive semesters. Each semester, students enroll in up to 12 SCH and engage in structured professional development sessions to guide their career development. Courses and professional development activities are offered Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., ensuring consistent access to instruction, mentoring, and applied learning opportunities.
