Animal Research

 At UNT Health Fort Worth, we value animal welfare and see the use of animals in research as a privilege. The Animal Care and Use program at UNT Health is committed to the care and welfare of all animals within the program and is supported by two important units: the Department of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DLAM) and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).

The Department of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DLAM)   Comprised of Professional Staff: * Veterinarians * Animal Care Takers * Support Staff   To ensure research animals needs are met in their: * Health * Welfare * Housing

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)   Comprised of experienced Members & Staff: * Chair & Vice Chairs * Scientific, Non-Scientific, Community Members * Administrators   To assess the institution’s program by reviewing: * Proposed and on-going animal use activities * The Program * The Animal Use Facilities
