UNT Health maintains a comprehensive Research Security Program grounded in federal and State requirements and implemented through coordinated institutional roles, safeguards, and regulatory processes. The responsibilities outlined through the Research Security Office and other supporting areas at the institution support compliance, protect the research enterprise, and uphold UNT Health’s obligations under the following:

• National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST), Special Publication (SP) 800 – NIST SP 800-171r3: Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information in Nonfederal Systems and Organizations

• Texas House Bill 127 – HB 127
• Texas Executive Order GA-48

These requirements apply to all Covered Individuals and to activities involving research-related institutional systems or devices, regulated information, international travel or foreign engagements, emerging and high-risk technologies, or regulated information and data subject to federal, state, or sponsor-imposed security requirements.
