Student Spotlight
Hannah Warren
Master of Public Health
What is a fun fact about you?
I have quite the adventure dog, Indi, or Indiana Jones, as his personality has come to be! Indi is almost 8 years old but will forever be my puppy!
What is one thing about yourself or one accomplishment of which you are particularly proud?
I grew up in New Mexico and moved to Texas right after graduating. For my move, I had nothing but an apartment lined up and didn’t know anyone, but I knew I could create an amazing life. I took a big leap, and it has paid off tremendously!
What attracted you to UNT Health?
I really love Fort Worth, and UNT Health has a strong culture that I like. The commitment to service, leadership, humility, and cultural competency was a big draw for me. The opportunities that faculty present to students are unmatched and aim to help shape the future healthcare leaders our community needs.
What student organizations, programs, activities are you involved in?
I am involved in a number of student organizations on campus. I am the Vice Chairperson for the UNT Health Student Activities Board, 2nd Year Representative for the Public Health Student Government Association, a student worker in the UNT Health Career Readiness Center, an Orientation Leader, a hopeful UNT Health peer mentor, and a member of the Public Health Minority Association. I am also beginning an internship with the UNT Health Pediatric Mobile Clinic this summer and will be a part of that until I graduate in May of 2026
If you could recommend students attend one campus activity or event, what would it be and why?
I would recommend trying to go to as many events, especially ones that involve free food lol! But if I had to choose one in particular, I would say the spring festival hosted by the SAB! This year was so fun. All of the events hosted on campus are planned especially for student wellbeing and to encourage a sense of community among the different colleges. With such a large school divided by college-specific buildings, it is special to come together and all decompress with fun games and activities… and free food!
What advice would you give to a student who is looking to make the most of their time at UNT Health?
Attend events, get involved, and put yourself out there. There are so many opportunities to make friends, hop on important research projects, and build a community for yourself. Utilize the resources on campus, like the Career Readiness Center or the Center for Academic Performance. The staff and faculty are so great, it’s important to capitalize on not only your education, but your experience here at UNT Health.
How has your UNT Health experience been so far?
My UNT Health experience has been fun, educational, and has helped me further shape my future goals. The connections and mentorship from faculty have been invaluable. I am consistently encouraged to keep on my path, and the idea that I can make my life what I want it to be is reinforced often. I feel lucky to have the professors I do, the resources provided, and the opportunities earned!
What are your plans after you finish at UNT Health?
I plan to attend medical school after I finish at UNT Health. I am currently studying for the MCAT and working on my applications. A long journey, but one that so many students at UNT Health will say is totally worth it!
